Five-Year MBA Program
The Hampton University School of Business Five-year MBA program began Fall 2000 and includes 162 academic hours with an embedded four-year bachelor's degree in business administration. Business competencies of the Hampton University Five-year MBA are achieved through an academic program characterized by an interdisciplinary approach that provides students with (1) a liberal education; (2) broad Engineering/Accounting based business background; (3) interpersonal and team based skills development; and (4) carefully structured firm sponsored work experiences.
Program Objective
Professional refinement activities are included in this program to insure business sophistication and the internalization of professional leadership skills, character, and critical thinking skills. The School seeks to accomplish these objectives through the development of both technical and non-technical competencies.
The objective of the Five-year MBA is to prepare students for professional positions in the management of organizations of varying technologies and objectives. The Hampton Five Year MBA is a "Full Delivery System." The Program is designed to add and develop needed competencies, which transcend individual disciplines and at the same time steer students toward their chosen career path.
Flexibility
Although the Professional MBA is a general degree, concentrations may be acquired by taking electives in an area of specialty consistent with the student's professional interests. For example, students desiring a concentration in accounting leading to eligibility to take the Uniform CPA Examination, can do so by selecting accounting courses for their free elective and graduate business electives coursework.

Students are required to complete two internships, (or two cooperative educational experiences with permission) with two companies, in two geographical regions. This requirement can be fulfilled during any school semester. The internship is graded on a letter grade basis and evaluated by the firm. In addition, a research term paper is required. Students must complete one internship prior to enrolling in "500 level MBA" coursework and qualify to enter the fifth year of their program.
Retention Requirements
A grade of "B" is expected of all students in the MBA program in all courses taken at Hampton University. Students receiving three "C's" in 500 to 600 level course-work will be dropped from the program if their cumulative grade point average falls below 3.0. Students with a grade point average of greater than 3.0 and three "C's" in 500 to 600 course-work will be suspended for at least one semester.
